Responsible Beverage Service training is not mandated by the state of New York. However, the state of New York has a voluntary responsible vendor program called the Alcohol Training Awareness Program[MA1.1] (ATAP), regulated by the New York State Liquor Authority (NYSLA).

TIPS (Training for Intervention ProcedureS) [MA2.1]certification is accepted statewide for use in New York. The TIPS On-Premise course for restaurants and bars, and the Off-Premise course for liquor and grocery stores are both state-approved. Each course includes a New York supplemental chapter as required by the state. Upon completion, students will receive both a TIPS certification and an ATAP Certificate of Completion.

Acceptable Forms of ID — New York

  • A valid driver's license or non-driver identification card issued by New York State, the federal government, any U.S. territory, commonwealth, or possession, the District of Columbia, any state government within the United States, or a provincial government of Canada.
  • A valid passport issued by the United States or any other country.
  • A valid U.S. passport card.
  • An identification card issued by the Armed Forces of the United States.
